Consulting and Speaking Engagements
I firmly believe that there is so much more to the mental health world, than individual therapy. Progress and collaborative healing happens when providers work together, and when therapists share their knowledge.
This is why I offer speaking engagements, trainings and consult services for those looking to learn more about Borderline Personality, Trauma and how Systems interact with our identities.
My Therapeutic Approach Meets Macro Social Work
I use an approach called Systems Therapy in most of my sessions. This extends beyond the therapy room in so many ways. When asked to speak at events, I might touch on how higher levels of care can or cannot be helpful, but I also might talk about how therapists can take care of themselves when working with higher acuity clients.
In speaking engagements and consulting, I incorporate aspects of:
Relational Cultural Theory
Social Identity Theory
Ecological Systems Theory
Each of these theories inform not only how we view ourselves, but how we interact with the world around us. That world includes the mental health systems. It is important that therapists, and student therapists, learn how not only they show up, but how their clients show up in the therapy room.
Support for Clinicians Who Want to Understand Borderline and Trauma
Borderline Personality Disorder is a wildly misunderstood mental health disorder, and many therapists feel fearful of working with clients who have this diagnosis. My goal is to help therapists feel more comfortable not just working with BPD, but to help therapists feel more comfortable with themselves.
Therapy is relational, is it not? If the therapist is nervous about working with Borderline, perhaps some self reflection might be needed. That’s where I come in. I’m not here to call you out, I’m here to help make therapy accessible for the client, and more enjoyable for you, the clinician.
If you’re unsure if you’d benefit from a consultation with me. Ask yourself these questions:
Is your organization or team looking to deepen its understanding of Borderline and Complex Trauma?
Are you planning a training, workshop or conference and looking for a speaker with clinical experience in Borderline Personality Disorder?
Are you looking for a speaker who can translate clinical concepts into practical, actionable content for a non-clinical audience?
Is your staff encountering clients who’ve been labeled ‘difficult’ or ‘high neds’ and could benefit from a more nuanced, trauma-informed lens?
